Paola Turns Six!

Personally, I cannot believe it. How can my baby be six??? She is absolutely lovely and crazy and funny and smart and we love her so much. She refused to have a birthday party so it was just us (and Drina of course) for some pink cupcakes and Daddy's homemade pizza.

We took our (almost) annual trip to Costa Rica. The kids spoke Spanish, got to hang with family and we spent some awesome time at the beach.

Christmas in New York

Our annual tradition took a detour this year when we boycotted overpriced Rockette tickets and decided to take the kids to the Lion King instead. We started at the tree and then went to Toys R Us. We had lunch at Sardi's and went to see the show. Luca was funny - complaining all morning about how the Lion King was for babies - but boy was he surprised. He was mesmerized for at least 90 minutes straight. It was a fantastic show and the costumes were amazing.

NY Philharmonic

So I bought the 2008-2009 subscription to the NY Philharmonic's program for children. There are 4 shows. We attended one yesterday. It is a big treat for the kids. We went to the Empire State Building and then to Rosa Mexicano (which we highly recommend) and then over to Lincoln Center for the Paris installment in great composers (the first was NYC!). The kids absolutely love it and it was a worthwhile investment. We go back in March and April for the final two shows.

Scarecrow Honors

Luca announced two weeks ago that we were going to compete in the first annual Clinton scarecrow contest. So today, we assembled our CAPTAIN CLINTON and walked him downtown (much to the delight of passerbys). It was very fun and we actually won runnerup in the Town Spirit category. Check him out. I think we have found a great new way to recycle Halloween costumes!

10 Years and Going Strong

On September 26th (our 10 year anniversary), the children went off to Grandma's and we headed for our favorite place in Mexico. Much to my surprise (YES! It was a complete surprise!!), Pab had arranged with the hotel for us to renew our vows. It was incredibly romantic, words wouldn't do it justice. Today we celebrated Luca's 8th birthday. He opted out of the big party we always planned and we took three of his friends and went bowling. It was a little wild but definitely fun and Luca was very happy. Check out the pics.
